Sacred heart Masses June 2025
All are invited to join with Bishop Crean in the celebration of Holy Mass at the Shrine of St. Gobnait, June 8th at 3pm.
Whitsun or Pentecost Sunday has long been associated with the honouring of our local Gaeltacht Saint. Devotion to St. Gobnait is very much alive with visitors praying the rounds daily and visiting the Holy Well. It is a special place of pilgrimage for those praying for the sick.
We look forward to seeing you and ask that you come in good time as parking will be limited at the Shrine.
St. Gobnait
This event is for Young Adults from the age of 18-30 and is a follow on from the “Into the Deep” event which took place in Clongowes on Saturday 22nd June last year. This event is for all Young Adults but there will be a special welcome for those who are travelling to Rome for the Jubilee of Youth and will be part of their preparation, however it is open to all Young Adults
This year, we are blessed to partner with the team at Knock Shrine, allowing us to expand our reach and welcome even more young adults from across the country. What began as an invitation-only event last year has now grown into a larger gathering that promises to nourish and inspire the faith of young Catholics throughout Ireland

A Chairde,
Our hearts are downcast with the death of our Holy Father, Francis.
Though sad of heart, our sadness is tempered by a profound sense of gratitude for this generous and courageous pastor.
In time we will come to fully grasp the great legacy of his papal ministry to the church and the world.
Each parish community will be organising a liturgy of remembrance for the repose of his gentle soul.
The Diocese of Cloyne will gather this Friday evening at St. Colman’s Cathedral, Cobh at 7.30 pm to pray for his eternal repose.
I extend an invitation to representatives from each parish to join in this diocesan celebration of the life and papal ministry of Pope Francis.
Requiescat in Pace,
With prayerful best wishes,
Yours Sincerely,
+William Crean
Bishop of Cloyne
Requiem Mass at St. Colman's Cathedral for Pope Francis
A Cháirde,
It is extraordinary to witness the turmoil and suffering that has been inflicted by a few autocratic leaders on the lives of millions of unfortunate and powerless people. It is a tragedy of enormous proportions. We too seem so powerless in the face of so much dark and evil intentions. It is difficult to find the seeds of hope in such a dark landscape.
For us who believe and trust in the action of God in our midst through the Lord Jesus and his disciples we live with hope in our hearts, hope that is rooted in Christ sharing our human trials and afflictions. Holy Week and Easter enables us to spiritually journey with Him through his suffering and death at the hands of his oppressors. But his death on the Cross was not the end rather the seed of victory.
