Psalm 15 (16):5-11

O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup; it is you yourself who are my prize. The lot marked out for me is my delight: welcome indeed the heritage that falls to me!

I will bless the Lord who gives me counsel, who even at night directs my heart. I keep the Lord ever in my sight: since he is at my right hand, I shall stand firm.

And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad; even my body shall rest in safety. For you will not leave my soul among the dead, nor let your beloved know decay.

You will show me the path of life, the fullness of joy in your presence, at your right hand happiness forever.

Prayer: Loving Father, with so many distractions in my life today, it is hard to keep my eyes focused on you. I truly want you to be ever in my sight directing my heart. Help me today to see you at my right hand, help me to put you in the first place. Help me to love you like you love me. Amen.

DAY 2

Psalm 25 (26):1-3; 9-12

Give judgement for me, O Lord: for I walk the path of perfection. I trust in the Lord; I have not wavered.

Examine me, Lord, and try me; O test my heart and my mind, for your love is before my eyes and I walk according to your truth.

Do not sweep me away with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men in whose hands are evil plots, whose right hands are filled with gold.

As for me, I walk the path of perfection. Redeem me and show me your mercy. My foot stands on level ground: I will bless the Lord in the assembly.

Prayer: O Lord, I try each day to walk in your ways. Let me know that you are near me when I am tempted to follow the crowd. So many have turned away from your love. Let me hold strong. Let me be a bridge for them. Let me bring your mercy to those who are in most need of it and bring those lost souls back to your love in the sacraments. Amen

DAY 3

Psalm 50 (51): 3-4; 12-15

Have mercy on me, God in your kindness. In your compassion blot out my offence. O wash me more and more from my guilt and cleanse me from my sin.

A pure heart create for me, O God, put a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from your presence, nor deprive me of your holy spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help; with a spirit of fervour sustain me, that I may teach transgressors your ways and sinners may return to you.

Prayer: Lord, deep in my heart I know that you never cast me away from your presence. It is I, by my sin and indifference who have turned away from you and hidden myself from your grace. Help me today to be aware of your presence in my life and to turn my heart towards your loving grace. Amen.

DAY 4

Psalm 76 (77):1-10; 14-16; 21

I cry aloud to God, cry aloud that he may hear me.

In the day of my distress I sought the Lord. At night my hands were raised without ceasing; my soul refused to be consoled. I remembered my God and I groaned. I pondered and my spirit fainted.

You withheld sleep from my eyes. I was troubled, I could not speak. I thought of the days long ago and remembered the years long past. At night I mused within my heart. I pondered and my spirit questioned.

“Will the Lord reject us forever? Will he show us his favour no more? Has his love vanished forever? Has his promise come to an end? Does God forget his mercy or in anger withhold his compassion?”

Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is great as our God? You are the God who works wonders. You showed your power among the peoples. Your strong arm redeemed your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. You guided your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Prayer: I thank you Lord, for the moments in my life where I have doubted your presence, your love, your mercy, your help. I thank you because these are the times when your love was strongest in my life. These were the times when, even though I was at the depths of my despair, you were there with your loving hand to hold me. Thank you for teaching me to trust you even more, to love you even deeper. As I go about my day today, help me to remember these times and to trust and to love you more. Amen.

DAY 5

Psalm 85 (86):11-16

Show me Lord your way so that I may walk in your truth. Guide my heart to fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart and glorify your name forever; for your love to me has been great: You have saved me from the depths of the grave.

The proud have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life: to you they pay no heed.

But you, God of mercy and compassion, slow to anger, O Lord, abounding in Love and truth, turn and take pity on me.

Prayer: God of love and truth, help me this day to know that you are near me. When I meet others who seem to pay no heed to your ways, help me be the light that they need to see you. Oh Lord let me never lose hope, let me have joy in sharing your love with others. Help me to carry the light of your truth throughout this day. Amen.

DAY 6

Psalm 117 (118):16-24

The Lord’s right hand has triumphed; his right hand raised me up. The Lord’s right hand has triumphed; I shall not die, I shall live and recount his deeds. I was punished, I was punished by the Lord but not doomed to die.

Open to me the gates of holiness: I will enter and give thanks.

This is the Lord’s own gate where the just may enter. I will thank you for you have given answer and you are my saviour.

The stone which the builders rejected has become the corner stone. This is the work of the Lord, a marvel in our eyes. This day was made by the Lord; we rejoice and are glad.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for your triumph on the cross, your triumph over sin and death. What the world sees as failure, I see as your eternal love. What the world rejects, I see as the keystone. Help me to love your Church and your Word. Help me today to know that you have made this day out of love for us. Give me joy and peace in my heart in the knowledge that you are Lord of my life and Lord of all. Amen.

DAY 7

Psalm 144 (145):8-14

The Lord is kind and full of compassion. Slow to anger, abounding in love. How good is the Lord to all, compassionate to all his creatures.

All your creatures shall thank you, O Lord, and your friends shall repeat their blessing. They shall speak of the glory of your reign and declare your might, O God,

to make known to men your mighty deeds and the glorious splendour of your reign. Yours is an everlasting kingdom; your rule lasts from age to age.

The Lord is faithful in all his words and loving in all his deeds. The Lord supports all who fall and raises all who are bowed down.

Prayer: Lord, sometimes in our weakness we forget your greatness. When we are in the midst of our own troubles, we often cannot see the greater plan of your love. Help me today Lord, to know your greatness, to know your love and to put all my trust in you. Amen.
