STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF BISHOP CREAN REGARDING A SAFEGUARDING MATTER
A safeguarding matter has been raised regarding a priest of the Diocese of Cloyne. This does not involve a complaint to the Diocese. The statutory authorities have been informed. He has been placed on Administrative Leave from ministry to allow all usual safeguarding processes take their course.
The safeguarding matter is from a time before he began his studies for the priesthood in the Diocese of Cloyne.
The work of safeguarding goes on in the Diocese which is carried out at parish level by hundreds of people.
