The newly commenced provisions of the Children First Act, including mandated reporting, will come into effect from 11th December 2017.

Newly revised Children’s First Guidance document can be found here:  http://www.tusla.ie/uploads/content/Children_First_National_Guidance_2017.pdf

One part of the law is about Mandated Persons. Up to now the Designated Liaison Person could do the reporting to Statutory authorities on behalf of the organisation / Diocese, now if a Priest or Pastoral worker receives an allegation of harm to children or is concerned about harm to children they must report it directly but the Designated Liaison Person can assist them in this report and go with them to the Statutory authorities.
