This book celebrates 200 years of St Colman’s Church, Cloyne. It was written in the context of the bicentenary celebrations that took place in the parish from November 2014 to November 2015. The Church was the first permanent suitable structure for Catholic worship in the town since the Reformation. The book covers the activities of the clergy and others in enhancing its appearance and function over the years. As Cloyne Town was the seat of the Catholic diocese in former times a chapter is devoted to the bishops of the diocese as well as one to the local clergy. Parishioners past and present and those who emigrated are covered in the book. From a historical perspective the Church has a good collection of Registers that pre-dates Penal Times. Chapters are devoted to devotional practice and the Bicentenary Year in photos.
