DESCRIPTION:The following are a list of Parish-Level Scripture Classes and other Faith Development Programs in or near the Diocese of Cloyne in Autumn/Winter 2017:\n\n[Note: if there are any missing please bring these to our attention by emailing webmaster@cloynediocese.ie ]:\n\nMidleton Parish (Fr Eamon Roche)\n“Heroes and Heroines of the Bible” – This 8-week bible study program is a “parish-level” program and so is for people of faith at “beginner” or “intermediate” level of biblical knowledge but will be rewarding for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of the bible in a relaxed atmosphere. The course seeks to remove the fear-factor of opening the bible and offers some simple pointers in how to become aware of some of the basic themes that recur throughout the bible\, helping us to make reading the bible an enjoyable and enriching experience.\n\nCourse Director: Fr Eamon Roche\, CC Midleton.\n\nThe 8 Heroes/Heroines (and the biblical themes associated with each) are:\n– Joseph\, Son of Jacob (Forgiveness)\n– Moses (Worship and Right-Living)\n– Ruth (Redemption)\n– David (Kingdom)\n– Jonah (Conversion and Mission)\n– Esther (Salvation)\n– Tobit (Suffering\, Prayer\, Marriage Covenant)\n– Daniel (Judgment)\nEach session will show how each Old Testament hero and heroine points forward to the coming of the Saviour\, Jesus Christ\, and the establishment of His Church.\nVenue: Edmund Rice Centre Midleton\, Second Room on Right on Ground Floor (Room 2).\nTime and Dates: Mondays on the following dates: Oct 23\, Nov 6\, Nov 13\, Nov 20\, Nov 27\, Dec 4\, Dec 11\, Dec 18th (note there is a gap of a forthnight between the 1st and 2nd sessions but after that the classes run weekly). 7.30pm -9pm each session.\nBooking: Please contact Fr Eamon Roche on 086 9972539 or eamon@rochetree.com\nPlease book early because places are limited (30 places).\nCost: To be clarified later\, but it is expected to be somewhere in the region of 10 to 20 euro.\n\n\n\n\nMidleton Parish (Fr John Ryan)\nFr John Ryan has two separate Adult Faith Development offerings over the Autumn 2017: Firstly\, a Bible Study group that runs on Tuesday mornings in Midleton Parish Office (10:30am to 12noon). SUMMARY:Icon of the Holy Family to visit Cobh
DESCRIPTION:The World Meeting of Families ‘Icon of the Holy Family’ will visit St Colman’s Cathedral\, Cobh from 27th to 30th October 2017\n\nIcon of the Holy Family\nA specially commissioned WMOF2018 icon of the Holy Family was unveiled and anointed on the 21st August 2017\, during the launch of the one-year programme of preparation at the National Novena in Knock\, Ireland. The icon was written by Mihai Cucu\, a Romanian iconographer (helped by the Redemptoristine Contemplative Community in Drumcondra) as part of their ongoing prayer for families. The icon is meant to encourage both reflection and prayer as part of the journey of preparations to World Meeting of Families 2018. Following the official unveiling at the National Novena in Knock\, the icon will travel to each Diocese in Ireland.\nPetition Box\nAt the national launch of the preparations for the World meeting of families\, each diocese was presented with a Petition Box which will initially accompany the Icon of the Holy Family and will remain in the Diocese for the coming year to gather family petitions. All of the contemplative communities around the country have agreed to take a share of these petitions throughout the year and to pray for each petition received. In June of next year we will gather up all of the petitions and bring them to the Final Mass for WMOF 2018.\n\nSchedule:\n\nSt Colman’s Cathedral Cobh\n\nFriday 27th October:\n\n6.30 pm Arrival of the Icon and Evening Prayer\n\nSunday 29th October:\n\n12.00 pm Mass - Bishop Crean presiding\n\nSunday afternoon – period of veneration of Icon\n\nAdoration of the Blessed Sacrament\n\nRefreshments available in parish centre\n\n7.00 pm Evening Mass\n\nSunday 30th October:\n\nHoly Hour from 8.00pm to 9.00pm.\n\n
