24 Hours for the Lord

In this year as we celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy, The Diocese of Cloyne has just completed a “24 Hours for the Lord” prayer initiative. Bishop William Crean, following the request of Pope Francis, made arrangements so that 5 churches in our diocese would act as host churches for this event that makes God’s mercy available to the faithful.

The event began at 5pm on Friday 4th March and continued until midnight. Confession resumed again the following morning and continue throughout the day until 5pm Saturday evening.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was made available throughout the night.

The following five churches hosted the 24 hrs for the Lord event:
Midleton Deanery: Church of the Most Holy Rosary Midleton.
Buttevant Deanery: 8t Mary’s Church, Mallow
Coachford Deanery: St Colman’s Church, Macroom
Kanturk Deanery: Church of the Immaculate Conception, Kanturk
Fermoy Deanery: St Patrick’s Church, Fermoy.
The priests of the diocese provided the Sacrament of Reconciliation in these venues. Eucharistic Adoration took place in these churches for the twenty-four hours.

The event proved a tremendous success with a steady stream of people coming to receive God’s mercy.
